Please join us for a moment of silence and to experience a safe space in acknowledgment of the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. We want to acknowledge all of those in our South Florida area who are hurting, scared or no longer with us because of this tragedy.
We urge all guests of The Wynwood Yard to please wear red or black on this day in solidarity with the hurt, loss, and healing happening in South Florida.
MJ Wright, Everytown for Gun Safety Fellow and the mother of Jerry Wright, who lost his life in the #Pulse Nightclub massacre, will speak.
Students from Guitars Over Guns will present a musical tribute, led by founder Chad Bernstein. Students from #YoungMusiciansUnite will also playa tribute.
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will be present to collect donations for their grassroots work towards public safety measures that protect people from gun violence.
There will also be a space for people to leave messages to the students, teachers and staff of the school.
Chira Cassel, COO of the Children's Bereavement Center and Lift From Loss, will be present to offer resources and referrals for those suffering the loss of a loved one. The Children's Bereavement Center and Lift from Loss provide free grief support groups in English and Spanish in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
There will also be a professional therapist, along with a therapy dog, at tomorrow's Safe Space to help people process, talk, or just to listen about emotions related to this tragedy. The therapist will be available to guests of The Yard on a complimentary basis.
Wynwood Yard will be donating to these organizations to help facilitate the work they are doing to help our community heal. We urge our community to also give to these organizations.
