Join us Wednesdays for live jazz under the stars featuring Miami local music luminaries living in our midst. These shows are each Wednesday from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. and are curated by Chad Bernstein of Guitars Over Guns. Admission is free.
The Mark Small Quartet has been thrilling audiences in Miami with their blend of hip shaking boogaloos to their organ-driven renditions of jazz standards. The unit draws inspiration from the funky influences of Lou Donaldson, Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, and The Meters as well as the soulful jazz influences of greats ranging from Stanley Turrentine to John Scofield. The band features saxophonist Mark Small, organist Adam Scone, guitarist Tim Jago, and Kyle Swan on drums. The members of this band have played with everyone from Aretha Franklin, Sharon Jones, to Lou Donaldson himself.
Mark Small is a saxophonist, woodwind player and composer who performs with his own band as well as with bands like Village Vanguard Orchestra and Darcy James Argue's Secret Society (featured on his Grammy-nominated debut record) at such notable clubs as the Blue Note, 55 bar, Village Vanguard, and the Jazz Gallery.
Mark has also toured with Warner Bros. recording artist Michael Bublé. His work with Michael had taken him on three world tours playing most major theaters and then followed by most major arenas in the US, UK, Australia and Europe. He has performed in over 35 countries and on numerous television programs including "SNL", the "Today Show", "Letterman Show", "Late Night with Jay Leno", "Ellen", "The Parkinson Show" (UK), "Junos" (Canada), and the "Logies" (Australia). Mark was a featured soloist on both saxophone and clarinet for the Grammy award-winning DVD "Michael Buble meets Madison Square Garden" as well as a live performance for PBS, (which went on to become a Grammy-nominated DVD, entitled "Caught in the Act"). His work for Michael has included arranging and re-orchestration as well as performing on saxophones and clarinet.
